The 2011 Kia Optima Hybrid

The Optima offers accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h). More importantly, fuel consumption is expected to be 36 mpg city / 40 mpg highway (US). It also installed with a 34 kW lithium-ion battery which enables the hybrid to operate in EV mode at speeds up to 100 km/h (62 mph). The Optima Hybrid is expected will be hit showrooms in early 2011 and will sell for around $22,000. Toyota Camry Hybrid that priced $26,575 would be its direct competitor.







Tesla Model X Electric SUV Coming in 2014


Reportedly, Teslas Motors and Toyota have intoducted an electric version of the RAV4, which will be namely the Tesla Model X. According to Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, the prototype of this EV SUV is expected will be presented in late 2011.
While we wait for the Tesla Model X, you can also see the highly anticipated electric sedan at the picture above, called the Tesla Model S which which will be produced in mid 2012 with an anticipated production volume of 7,000 in the first year, followed by another 20,000. Pricing is expected to come in at $49,900 after a federal tax credit of $7,500. A $5,000 reservation fee is required but is refundable.
