Tesla Model X Electric SUV Coming in 2014

Reportedly, Teslas Motors and Toyota have intoducted an electric version of the RAV4, which will be namely the Tesla Model X. According to Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, the prototype of this EV SUV is expected will be presented in late 2011.

While we wait for the Tesla Model X, you can also see the highly anticipated electric sedan at the picture above, called the Tesla Model S which which will be produced in mid 2012 with an anticipated production volume of 7,000 in the first year, followed by another 20,000. Pricing is expected to come in at $49,900 after a federal tax credit of $7,500. A $5,000 reservation fee is required but is refundable.

“I’m hopeful we will unveil a prototype toward the end of next year. When it will go into production is harder to predict because we want to make sure the Model S production line is operating smoothly before we introduce another variant,” Elon Musk said in an interview. “But certainly within two… in less than two years when we start Model S production, we will have the Model X. When you consider the gas savings with an electric SUV, it is pretty substantial,” he added. “You are probably spending three times as much, four times as much, as you are with an efficient hybrid like the Prius.”
